Why We Care
Quality, Human Health, Our Environment and Our Community
We are deeply committed to the highest quality in every product we offer. That's why we've meticulously developed a wide range of roasting profiles, drawing on the expertise of our farmers, technical support from Loring, the makers of our state-of-the-art roasters, ongoing research with Georgian College, the resources of the University of Guelph, and our own years of experimentation and experience.
Our Environment
We care about our Environment and its direct impact on Human Health.
As an innovator, we are constantly seeking new production methods and materials for packaging. In 2014, Beaver Rock Roastery won the prestigious GIC Award (Grocery Innovation Canada) for being the first company to bring to market a fully recyclable single serve pod.
We have been using Loring “State of the Art” Roasters and Destoners since 2013, testimony to our commitment. Loring are a world renowned US manufacturer of roasting equipment ensuring unmatched quality, unheard of efficiency and unparalleled control.
Our commitment to the environment is driving the development of our newest investment in innovation, a packaging technology which will allow us to transition to a home compostable single serve pods using organic materials (starches) for the cup and paper fibre lids inks printed using organic inks. Call it “Natures way of Recycling”. For this effort, in 2024, Beaver Rock won the Meridian Credit Union “Small Business – Big Impact Ward.”
Human Health
We care about how our products affect Human Health. For example, the reason we choose Swiss Water Process for decaffeinated beans versus chemical extraction methods.
Our friends at Swiss Water Process (SWP) have developed a unique and sustainable process for decaffeinating green coffee beans. Why do you ask? The SWP process gently removes caffeine using elements of water, temperature, and time to extract 99.9% of the caffeine and in the process maintain excellent flavour and quality.
For Beaver Rock Roastery, all other extraction processes are unacceptable because they are chemically derived. After all, the last thing any of us need is to ingest more chemicals, right?
Key to Human Health and impact on Our Environment is the selection of packaging materials. These tenets are absolutely inter-twinned and so for Beaver Rock they are targeted together. The world needs every organization to do their part, after all without this effort, what kind of a world will we be leaving future generations.
Our Community
We care about our Community. We support initiatives that can make a difference. During Covid, we kept RVH Hospital supplied with coffee and provided equipment to ensure all of the front line care givers were energized with their favourite beverages.
We work diligently with local and regional business to secure supplies. Economic Fact: Every $100 spent with local businesses, results in at least $63 being re-circulated into the local economy versus $19 for multinational organizations.
This retention creates a chain reaction of new jobs, entrepreneurship, enhancing community wealth, and energy conservation spurring further investment. Beaver Rock sources as many supplies locally as possible because the more the better. If we could grow the coffee, teas, and cocoa locally, we would!
